The agreement will allow GENUSA to extend its activity of marketing and selling nuclear fuel to operators of boiling water reactors (BWR) throughout Europe for the next six years
This extension of the agreement between both entities demonstrates "the trust placed in ENUSA" by clients and "technological allies"
The ENUSA Group has extended the agreement with Global Nuclear Fuel for the next six years. Through GENUSA, the company owned by GNF and ENUSA, this agreement allows the Spanish company to extend its activity of marketing and selling nuclear fuel to boiling water reactor (BWR) operators throughout Europe until 2024.
Founded in 1996, GENUSA markets and sells nuclear fuel to boiling water reactor (BWR) operators throughout Europe.
A very important agreement for ENUSA because, for Roberto Fernández Villegas, director of Business Development and Technology at ENUSA, "this business alliance gives stability to a relationship that has made it possible for GENUSA to have the majority of the European BWR fuel market."
In 2018, GENUSA was awarded the contracts for the manufacture of fuel for the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant, Finland, and for two of the three units of the Forsmark nuclear power plant, Sweden, which has meant recovering ENUSA's presence in the Nordic markets, an important milestone for a company that is immersed in an intense internationalization process and for which recovering recharges in the Swedish and Finnish reactors is a guarantee of continuity of its main activity.
The fuel for these plants is being manufactured by ENUSA in Spain at its Juzbado Nuclear Manufacturing Plant. ENUSA has manufactured and delivered almost 11,000 fuel assemblies for customers in Europe since the plant began operating in 1985.
For José Vicente Berlanga, president of the ENUSA Group, «this agreement is very important both from the scope of business activity and from the quality of our products, which are subject to intense and continuous quality and improvement processes. This is something that our partners and clients value positively, resulting in essential factors to renew trust with clients and technological allies such as GNF.
“ENUSA and GE have worked together since the 1970s,” said Amir Vexler, CEO of GNF and Chairman of the Board of Directors of GENUSA. “We are pleased to offer customers in Europe the latest fuel technology and services by expanding the joint venture GENUSA.”
