The ENUSA laboratory obtains first place, TOP-LABO, in the annual intercomparison exercise organized by the PROCORAD association
The Environmental Radioactivity Measurements Laboratory that ENUSA has in the center of Juzbado has obtained the highest position, TOP-LABO, in Alpha Spectrometry, within the annual intercomparison exercise organized by the PROCORAD Association (Association for the PROmotion of Quality Control in RADiotoxicological Analysis).
The Alpha Spectrometry technique for which the ENUSA laboratory has been distinguished will be the one used to determine the isotopic activity of uranium in urine samples from workers at the Juzbado factory in the new laboratory that is planned to be built in installation. To this end, ENUSA will request authorization from the CSN to have an Internal Personal Dosimetry Service (SPDI), authorization that it hopes to obtain backed by the ENAC accreditation since 2003 and by the excellent results obtained in the intercomparison exercises that demonstrate the quality of the work. performed as well as the experience and professionalism of the ENUSA staff involved.
PROCORAD (Association for the PROmotion of Quality Control in RADiotoxicological Analysis) is a French non-profit association. Its committee is made up of members of the French Association of Biological-Nuclear Industry (ABNF), the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and ORANO. Annually it organizes different types of international intercomparison exercises that allow the verification and validation of procedures and protocols for measuring activity in biological samples (urine and feces) in order to ensure the quality of this type of analysis.
This is the second time that the ENUSA laboratory has been awarded the TOP-LABO position, the first was in 2018, although on that occasion the award was achieved in Gamma Spectrometry. This is another example of ENUSA's excellence, which is based on the values of quality and safety.
